Filipino Canadian Association of Toronto Metropolitan University
Kumusta Po! Welcome to FILMET!
Welcome to the official website for the Filipino Canadian Association of Toronto Metropolitan University (FilMet). Don't forget to take your shoes off at the door before you explore all about our student group!
Land Acknowledgement
FilMet would like to acknowledge the following nations whose territory we have had the privilege to operate on for years: the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples; to this day Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
As a student group with members primarily coming from a country which has also experienced a history of colonialism, it is our responsibility to recognize that the land we operate on was taken from Indigenous people through exploitation, forced eviction, and colonial subjugation. FilMet is committed to honouring the Indigenous community and supporting them by educating ourselves and others about the people and their land in which we operate on.

What Is FILMET?
The Filipino Canadian Association of Toronto Metropolitan University has a long history in both the Toronto Metropolitan University and the Toronto community. As a student group, we continuously strive to create a welcoming space to those looking to celebrate and embrace the Filipino culture.
